Specialty LaFerrari Sells for Record Breaking Euro 6,7 Million

Ferrari’s famed annual celebration, the Finali Mondial, took place this past weekend at Daytona International Raceway, marking the first time the event was hosted in the United States.
The weekend concluded with an ending only a flare-driven brand like Ferrari could produce: a special edition of their flagship LaFerrari selling for a record-breaking Euro 6,7 Million ($7 million dollars).

The many millions are not going to the Ferrari war chest, but rather towards aiding the victims of the 2016 earthquake in central Italy. 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the National Italian American Foundation’s Earthquake Relief Fund. Ferrari worked in conjunction with auction house RM Sotheby’s to help fetch the astronomical price for this 500th LaFerrari. Ferrari never planned on selling more than 499 examples of the hypercar, and commissioned this one specifically for the event.

“The impressive sales price not only represents a benchmark for a LaFerrari sold at auction, eclipsing the previous high sale by more than $1.8 million, but also a record as the most valuable 21st century automobile ever sold at auction,” notes Sotheby’s.

The 500th LaFerrari coupe keeps the outrageous 900-plus horsepower hybrid power plant, and boasts several bespoke features, including the custom paintwork. The car is painted red with a “white dream line” tracing along the rear windshield and hood. The most notable detail is a small Italian flag on the hood of the car, serving as a reminder that the LaFerrari is a gift from the company back to its home country.
